Two days ago I linked a Beelink EQ14 in the N150 power consumption post and described it as an N150 box with four independent idle readings. All of that is still true. What I had not checked is the listing itself: the Wayback Machine's capture from October 2022 shows the same Amazon product ID selling a Beelink U59 Pro with an N5105 and 41 ratings. That sent me back to the question Google autocompletes 137 different ways, "n100 vs n150", with a different suspicion. I own neither chip, so what follows is assembled: Intel's spec pages for ten N-series parts, PassMark's averages for the same ten, and a read of 41 Amazon search results and 11 Beelink product pages this morning from a New York delivery address. The chip difference turned out to be two clock numbers. The listing difference was bigger.

What Intel changed: two clocks and a label

Put Intel's N100 page next to its N150 page and almost every row matches. Same four cores and four threads, same 6 MB cache, same 6 W, same Intel 7 process, same single memory channel, same nine lanes of PCIe 3.0.

The memory row matters because listings imply otherwise. Twin Lake did not raise the RAM ceiling or the memory speed; both pages say 16 GB and the same three memory types. One Hacker News owner puts the practical limit at "one 32gb stick max", which is past Intel's figure on either chip. The GPU clock is the one real uplift, 750 MHz to 1 GHz on the same 24 execution units. I found no side-by-side transcode test of the two chips in anything I read, so that 33% is a paper number.

0.9% on PassMark, and the power limit outranks the name

PassMark's database averages every machine that submitted a result. The N100 page has 4,078 samples at a multithread rating of 5,306; the N150 page has 2,175 samples at 5,352. That is 0.9% apart, and single-thread is closer still, 1,880 against 1,893. A 5.9% higher turbo ceiling becomes under 1% because these boxes rarely sit at their ceiling: Neowin's EQ14 review found sustained 3.6 GHz "out of the question", and the vendor power limits I collected for the power post ran from 12 W to 25 W on the same chip.

PassMark averages for ten N-series chips, read this morning. The two highlighted bars are the question; the rows around them show that the name predicts less than the power rating does.

The rows around the pair say the same thing from another angle. The N97 has the N150's 3.6 GHz turbo but a 12 W rating, and it averages 8.5% higher. The N200 has a 3.7 GHz turbo at 6 W and averages 14% below the N100. PassMark doesn't record each machine's power limit, so I can't prove the cause, but the pattern fits a family where the box's cooling and firmware decide more than the model number. If you need a real step up, the chart's answer is the eight-core parts, not the refresh.

On Amazon the N150 is not the premium

I searched amazon.com for "n100 mini pc" and "n150 mini pc" with a New York ZIP set and read the first page of each. The N100 search returned 21 unique listings: 11 actually N100, 3 N95, 5 Ryzen, 1 N150 and a dock. The N150 search returned 20: 13 N150 and 7 Ryzen boxes, four of which put "Beats N150" or similar in their titles. The median N100 price was $339.00 across 11 listings and the median N150 price was $329.00 across 13, as of 2026-09-15. On the first page, the newer chip was ten dollars cheaper.

Beelink's own pair makes the same point: the Mini S12 Pro with an N100 and 16 GB of DDR4 was $369.00, and the Mini S13 with an N150 and 12 GB of LPDDR5 was $329.00. The $40 gap follows the memory, not the chip. LPDDR5 isn't made as a socketed SO-DIMM, so the 12 GB configuration can never be upgraded, which matters more to a home server than 200 MHz of turbo. How much memory that job needs is its own question, and the home server RAM post works through it.

The reviews under an N150 title are often for other chips

Amazon groups variations under a parent listing, and the ratings and reviews are shared across the family. Beelink's families mix chips. Of the 11 product pages I read, 8 had N150 in the title. Those 8 pages displayed 76 reviews between them, and each review carries the variation the reviewer bought. 40 of the 76 were for an N150. The other 36 were for an N95 (18), an N100 (11), something else (2) or no label (5).

Two examples are hard to miss. The S13 N150 at ASIN B08K73CKNL shows 654 ratings, and the S12 Pro N100 at B08RYYZSZQ shows the same 654, because they share a parent. The S13 N150 at B09LC9JWVQ shows 1,140 ratings, and 9 of its 13 visible reviews are for N95 boxes. That ASIN's history goes further back than the N100: in the January 2022 capture it was a Beelink SEI8 with a Core i5-8279U and 87 ratings, and in June 2023 a SEI11 with an i5-11320H and 341. Six of the 11 pages, including N150 ones, still list the CPU Model field as "Celeron".

None of this makes the boxes bad. It means a star rating on these listings is not an N100 or N150 rating. A Hacker News commenter put the risk plainly in March: N150 boxes from Chinese vendors "often mess up things like cooling in a hardware revision (compared to the favorable review that you'd read)". A review attached to an ASIN that has sold at least three different computers can't tell you which revision you get. The variation label printed on each review is the fix: read only the ones that match what you are buying. What owners complain about applies to both

The owner threads I read don't split the two chips. They report the same problems on both, and I kept the negatives because they are what gets a box returned.

The satisfied side is just as chip-neutral. One Home Assistant user runs Proxmox and HAOS on a Mini S12 Pro N100 "with plenty of room to spare" and notes the model is "now superseded with an N150 system". Another Hacker News comment sums up the upgrade: the N150 and N200 are "a touch better than N100 for usually around the same price". Sustained speed depends on the box more than the chip, too: the fanless mini PC post found a sealed N100 MeLE settling at about a third of its rated turbo under load.

Which to buy

Buy whichever is cheaper in the configuration you want, then choose on the parts the chip doesn't decide: socketed DDR4 or DDR5 over LPDDR5 if you might add memory, an NVMe slot over SATA, and the network controller if it will route (the dual Ethernet mini PC post covers why the NIC chip matters on pfSense). On the listing, filter reviews to your exact variation before trusting the stars.

From what I read this morning, the Beelink Mini S12 Pro N100 16 GB at $369.00 is a listing whose nine visible reviews are all for that N100 configuration, with 271 ratings. The Beelink Mini S13 N150 12 GB at $329.00 is cheaper and its eight visible reviews are all N150, but 21 ratings is a thin record and its 12 GB is soldered for good. The EQ14 at $369.00 remains the N150 with the most published power readings and dual 2.5GbE; its labeled reviews are all N150, and its ASIN is the one that sold a U59 Pro in 2022. Is the N150 faster than the N100?

Slightly. Intel raised the CPU turbo from 3.4 to 3.6 GHz and the GPU from 750 MHz to 1 GHz, with the same four cores, 6 W and 24 execution units. PassMark's averages put the N150 0.9% ahead in multithread and 0.7% in single-thread.

Is it worth upgrading from an N100 to an N150?

No: the measured gain is under 1% on PassMark, both chips share the same 16 GB memory ceiling and PCIe 3.0 lanes, and on Amazon the median N150 listing was ten dollars cheaper than the median N100 one on 2026-09-15. A real step up is an eight-core N305 or N355.

Does the N150 support more RAM than the N100?

Not on paper. Intel lists 16 GB maximum on one memory channel for both, with the same DDR4-3200, DDR5-4800 and LPDDR5-4800 support. Owners report running a single 32 GB stick, which is outside Intel's listed spec, and LPDDR5 configurations are soldered and cannot be upgraded.
